Event Location
All activities for the October 2023 Mini Midwest Security Workshop take place at the UIC Student Center West (828 S. Wolcott Ave., Chicago, Illinois 60612, Google Maps). The UIC campus sits close to the heart of downtown Chicago and is near many culturally rich neighborhoods, including Pilsen, Little Italy, Bridgeport, Chinatown, Greektown, South Loop, and the West Loop.
Registration is in the second floor common area of the student center. Please see the agenda for the room locations of each event.
Getting to UIC
Driving: One option is to drive to campus, and traffic should not be too bad on a Saturday morning. Paid parking is available at the Wood Street Parking Structure (1100 S Wood St, Chicago, IL 60612, Google Maps). Information on the parking rates is available online.
By public transportation: Chicago has an excellent system of public transportation, including buses, metro (the elevated train, or "the L"), and a commuter rail (Metra). UIC has published information on public transit, though we would especially call out the convenience of the Blue Line of the L (UIC-Halsted and Racine stops) and the 8 bus that runs down Halsted. The buses and el are operated by the CTA and share a ticketing system that offers both day passes and reloadable Ventra cards. The Metra commuter rail has its own ticketing system.
From the airports: The university is about a 45-minute taxi ride from Midway Airport and O'Hare Airport. From O'Hare, you can take the blue line of the L directly to the UIC campus.
